Everyone! at Thanda Safari is getting ready to welcoming our guests back as soon as the lockdown is over 😊 I took this picture of one of our Lionesses inspecting our entrance gate!

THE MORNING POST – COLD AND MAGICAL

Winter mornings can be quite cold, especially on an open Land Rover driving through the mist. But when sun breaks through it can look magical 😊

Have a good day!

THE EVENING POST – LOOKING FAR

I really like this picture of a Giraffe looking into the distance as the sun set.

Enjoy your evening!

THE EVENING POST – LONG NOSES

This morning I asked of which animal I took the detail pictures in the collage. The correct answer is an Elephant. And the details are: Ivory Tusk, Toe Nail, Foot Sole and Tail Hair.

Have a good evening 😊

THE MORNING POST – DETAILS

I got two questions this morning. An easy one and a more challenging one. Which animal posed for these detail? And can you identify the body parts, of which they were taken of?

This evenings’s post will provide the answer 😊. Or you could go go to my http://www.wildlife4kids.com site for the answer where I posted this quiz a few days ago.

THE MORNING POST – TWO VIEWS – ONE MOON

These are two pictures of the moon taken from Thanda Safari at exactly the same time in the early morning hours.

The picture on the top was taken with a Canon DSLR and a 500mm lens and the picture below with an iPhone XS Max. These two incredible tools often complement one another rather than compete.

Have a peaceful Sunday 😊

THE EVENING POST – A BIT OF A SWAGGER

At the end of today’s game drive I took this short video of an Elephant bull following a breeding herd. Like a teenager he walked confidently down the road with a bit of a swagger before turning into the tree-line.

Have a good Sunday!

… and on a historical note …

On 22 May 2004, exactly 16 years ago, His Majesty King Zwelithini Goodwill kaBhekuzulu officially opened Thanda Safari Lodge.

Right now the only visitors at this most beautiful place are our animals, but we are looking forward to welcoming guests again soon, from all over the world!
