My photographic Safari this evening was cut short by a bit of rain, which is very welcome.
But before I returned to Thanda House I took this short video with my iPhone. This is a Leopard Tortoise, one of the Small Five. Can you name the other four. I will post the answer tomorrow afternoon 😊

Today’s bird is the Crested Guinea Fowl. They live in family groups and often walk behind herds of large animals to collects food which they have left behind. These large ‘bush chickens’ play an important role in the control of ticks and other insects. This is a portrait which I took during one of my Lock Down Safaris.

WILDLIFE 4 KIDS
Today I have launched a page to provide a bit of entertainment to children (and adults) during the Convid-19 crisis lock down in South Africa and all around the world.
I will regularly upload pictures with fun questions for the young ones. There is a special page on the site with all the answers http://www.wildlife4kids.com/answers/. Let’s hope you (and your children) will enjoy the pictures (and occasional short videos) which I will start publishing today.

On today’s game drive I not only used my cameras but I also got a great shots from my drone. Combined with the noise from my vehicle the herd of Cape Buffalo ignored the flying machine 😊 I got some great footage not only of the Buffalo but of a female Cheetah on a kill and of young Elephant bulls sparring.

One of the major feature of today’s game drive was a flat tire and a wheel change 😊. But we also had some good sightings, Lions, White Rhinos, Warthogs and a Journey of Giraffes just after sunset.

Very colorful, very slow moving and very fast catching prey = Panther Chameleon, my favorite reptile 😊. This is especially for all my friends in Switzerland. The picture was taken at Masoala Hall at the Zurich Zoo.

A lot of my friends around the world are quite envious about my lock down location. Being grounded on a beautiful 14,000ha big five game reserve is not the worst fait for a professional wildlife photographer.
