My favorite iPhone apps …

These are 20 of my favorite iPhone apps for photography and field guiding support (as of 28 February 2019).

I only use the full (paid) version of each app. Free versions are usually limited in functionality and have adverts, which I do not like 🙂

Most of these apps are available for IOS and Android, but I have only tested and used them on iPhones.

Camera + > Best editor for picture post processing. Amazing clarity filter.

iMovie > Simple but effective movie editor – needed to remove the sound from a video.

Sun Seeker > Sunrise times, sunset times, sun position and much more. Very important for a photographer and for a guide.

Moon Seeker > Moon rise times, moon set times, moon position and much more. Very important for a guide and for a astronomer.

Videoshop > A very good editor for more complex video editing including combining multiple video clips into one movie.

Retouch > Great tool for eliminate unwanted branches and other minor unwanted object from a picture.

Photo Cleaner > Helpful tool to deleted pictures in bulk (after backing them up onto your PC or Mac)

BatchPhoto > Great tool to resize your images in bulk

SortMyPhotos > Tool to sort images in an album by various criteria

Photo Information > App to get picture info including the original image file name.

Transfer > Photo transfer app to easily copy high-res images in bulk/directly from and IOS device to/from a Windows or an Android devices using WiFi (no email involved!).

Pic Collage > A good tool to create collages from your pictures.

Roberts Birds of Southern Africa > The best bird book app for South Africa.

Stuart’s Southern African Mammals > The only really usable mammal book app for South Africa.

eFrogs > Excellent app for South African frogs.

eSnakes > The only usable snake book app for South Africa.

TrackID > Useful app to explain animal tracks.

Sky Guide > Very helpful to identify stars and constellations in the night sky.

Tides > Useful when planning a beach photo trip.

And in case you are interested I have installed in total 173 apps on my iPhones and iPads. Most of them are in use 🙂
