SMART PHONE SAFARI – YES OR NO?

Since the ‘South African Covid-19 Lock Down’ started I have posted many wildlife images and videos on my social media channels.

I have also created a new blog and Facebook page for kids (and the young at heart) on which I post a daily Q&A with a wildlife picture (www.wildlife4kids.com | http://www.facebook.com/wildlife4children)

Thanks a lot for all the very positive response to all these posts.

Quite a few of my friends around the world have asked me if I could chat a bit about various wildlife photography topics in my videos and maybe answer questions from viewers.

So here is my first ‘Wildlife Photography Academy :-)’ video. Today’s topic is ‘Smart Phone Safari – yes or no?’

I hope you like it.

If you have ideas for future topics to cover, if you have any questions about photography in general, or wildlife photography in particular then I will try to talk about these in upcoming videos.

Just post your suggestions or questions in the comment section or send an email to christian@sperka.com.

PS: These occasional video posts will be in addition to my daily STAY-AT-HOME and LOCK-DOWN-SAFARI post 🙂

STAY-AT-HOME BIRD WEDNESDAY

What is the group name for Pied Crows?

A murder of Crows 😊 A rather dramatic name for these good looking members of the clean up crew (Pied Crows are mainly scavengers). Have a good bird Wednesday, stay home and stay safe!

STAY-AT-HOME TUESDAY

With many adults performing essential services on Thanda Safari a few young children are on lock down on the reserve with their parents.

When I took little Sambulo and his parents on a game drive the young gentleman tried on my safari hat 😊.

We saw Lions, Rhinos, Buffalo and a lot of general game and he enjoyed the drive very much. But Sambulo was also a bit disappointed with me as I did not show him Elephants.

But as we are locked down until the end of the month I am sure there will be a chance for another drive to track down the Ellies! Stay home and stay safe 😊

STAY-AT-HOME MONDAY

Another one of my wild cat photography favorites: A male Lion striding straight towards the camera at Thanda Safari.

Have a good week, stay home and stay safe!

LOCK DOWN PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARI XXII

A minute of tranquility! At the end of a game drive I often stop at the waterhole next to Thanda House. I close my eyes for a few minutes and just listen to the sounds of nature.

I have recorded the sounds and prepared a short 1 minute ‘audio video’ for you in case you want to try this at home.

Stay home and stay safe!

LOCK DOWN PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARI XXI

https://youtu.be/gFTflcHqTZo

Today I did a single animal safari. I ran into a White Rhino bull who was on a territorial walk and I stayed with him for 2 hours observing his behavior.

This is a 3 minute YouTube video summary with video footage and a few pictures of my afternoon with ‘just’ one Rhino 😊

Have a good evening, stay home and stay safe!
