This Zebra spotted two of our male Lions just in time before it was getting to close to these formidable carnivores.
The cats were not in hunting mode – as they still had a fairly full stomach from their last meal – but their killing instinct would have taken over if the Zebra would have gotten to close.

We had over 100mm of rain in the last three days at Thanda Safari. Some of our large mammals – like this Zebra – looked like they felt a bit sorry for themselves walking around with muddy hooves on slippery grounds. So far we had more than 400mm since the beginning of the year.
Let’s hope there will be more to come 😊

This Thanda Safari Zebra calf got rid of far too much stored energy by jumping and running around. The video is not of great quality by it is a joy to watch. Have a good week!

Zebras can be quite ferocious fighters. Still muddy after last night’s rain and from the subsequent mud bath these two Burchell’s Zebra stallions had a go at one another.

This is the third video with music from the album ‘Under the Marula Tree’ by ROOT, a local band. It features some of my pictures and videos taken at Thanda Safari.
The music is composed to symbolize African nature icons (eg sunrises, Lions, Elephants, …). This very special album is available on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer for streaming and download! https://root.hearnow.com/
All ROOT videos are available on their YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMXQv3FdJsIERJHHKt0rX2w

Enjoy the Grazing Antelope 😊
