Keep an eye on danger!

Sometimes herbivores rather keep an eye on carnivores than running away from them. This evening a dazzle of Burchell’s Zebras were keeping an eye on our two dominant male Lions for quite a while before moving off in the opposite directions.

The Zebras never came close enough to trigger the Lions’ hunting/killing instinct, and as these larger cats were still full from a recent kill they were putting no effort into active hunting at this time.

Greetings by a true dugga boy!

I was quite glad I was in my vehicle when this Cape Buffalo Bull appeared from nowhere as I was taking some bird pictures at a waterhole. He snorted a bit and shook his head at me, so I backed off a bit, and he was happy to settle again in the mud.

An Impala portrait

I usually post a lot of pictures of the Big Five and of carnivores. This week I will focus of the herbivores which are great photographic subjects, often ignored on game drives.

Have a good week!
