A baby White Rhino had a lot of fun, when its mum decided to have a mud bath in between a herd of Cape Buffalo. My guests enjoyed this very special sighting just as then sun had set this evening!

On a mission …
In this picture one of Thanda Safari’s male Lions was tracking some females using his sense of smell.
The morning after I took this image he had caught up with the ladies, who were ‘hanging out’ with the dominate male, my photo model’s brother.
He therefore kept a respectful distance to the pride to avoid any conflicts.

WITH LOGO!
Sometimes a space in a picture invites the placement of a logo. Last weekend I took this Giraffe picture at Pakamisa in beautifully moody evening light.
A journey of Giraffes passed by the stables after all the horses were put into their boxes for the night. I think the logo fits neatly into the frame 😊.

The Milky Way and a shooting Star – Relaxing under the stars
It is an incredible experience to drive into the bush, to turn off all lights, to wait 15 to 30 minutes until the human night vision is fully established, and then to enjoy the incredible view of the Milky Way.
Even with the naked eye it is possible to observe many constellations, some of the planets, and on a lucky day even a shooting star!

Annoying Birds
Sometimes the little birds are just too much!

Possessive
These two were mating for a while now (as Lions do every 20-30 min for a few days). And the male’s brother is always nearby, but in a respectful distance to the mating couple.
Yesterday afternoon I observed the scene for a few hours and realized that the female was trying to get closer to the second – non mating – brother, but got pushed off by her possessive mate as soon as she tried to move into the submissive brothers direction.
