THE EVENING POST – FOCUS

One feels rather small when a large Elephant focuses his attention on the open safari vehicle one is sitting in, even if it is only for a few seconds.

This is one of the oldest and largest bulls on Thanda Safari. We estimate his weight over 6 tons (=3 Land Rovers 😊).

PS: Today’s morning post bird was a White-backed Vulture

THE EVENING POST – REUNION

It was a great pleasure to see your two dominate male Lions again this morning.

The last few weeks they roamed the rolling hills of western part of the reserve and have not been spotted for quite a while.

I love eye shots of cats walking towards the camera!

Have a good evening 😊

THE EVENING POST – YAWN

This evening this Thanda Safari Cheetah male gave a good yawn before he got up to move off. Interesting fact: Large cats in general announce their intention to walk away by yawing a few times.

Have a good week!

THE MORNING POST – PAKAMISA VIEWS

I stayed a few days with my friends at Pakamisa Private Game Reserve; for the 63th time since my arrival in South Africa in 2012 :-). Besides doing the usual wildlife and horse photography I produced material for some short ‘Pakamisa – Ready for Business’ videos.

This is a drone clip of an interesting 360 degree winter view over the reserve and its surroundings. It shows the tall Pakamisa mountain, the beautiful lodge with its stunning views, the long Pakamisa valley with the horse stables, and the Pongola valley with its vast sugar cane fields.

Isabella and her team are getting ready to re-open for South African guests in September. Just contact res@pakamisa.co.za for more information or to book your stay at this amazing place.

Enjoy your weekend!
