THE DAILY POST – WITH ONE LOOK

From my archives: When mum disciplined her cub because it gave her this look back. Most people would melt away and forget what just happened when subjected to these eyes, but Cheetah mums are of sterner stuff 😊

THE DAILY POST – PERFECT LIGHT

The sun only came through for a few minutes on this overcast and rainy day but the lighting was perfect for this Giraffe image.

Have a good day!

PS: Yesterday’s bird was a Wahlberg’s Eagle 🦅

WHICH BIRD? 🐦 WEDNESDAY – THE DAILY POST

What bird is this? – I will post the result tomorrow …

PS: I forgot to post the answer for last week’s bird question: it was a Bateleur (Eagle).

THE DAILY POST – LET ME THROUGH

This little Elephant was on the way to water and pushed right through the forest of adult Elephant legs 😊

THE DAILY POST – LOOKING OVER HIS KINGDOM

One of Thanda Safari’s dominant male Lions was looking across the reserve on a rainy afternoon.

We got the first light, very welcome rains of the season 🌧.

THE DAILY POST – SUNRISE

I love the spectacular African sunsets. But sunrises can also result in magnificent pictures. Last week I spent quite a bit of time in the mornings at Thanda House dam. This is my favorite sunrise image.

Have a good week 😊

THE DAILY POST – LONG NECKS TOO SHORT

Giraffe necks are quite long and they use them efficiently for their own grooming. But looking at the overall animals their necks are too short!

Why? Because adult Giraffe have to spread their front legs apart in a very awkward and vulnerable posture to be able to drink. I have not seen any other mammal that has to do these sort of acrobatics to get a drink.

Conclusion: Their necks are too short or their legs are too long 😊

THE DAILY POST – JUST PERFECT

It never gets old. I can watch these African sunsets over and over again.

Good night 💤

THE DAILY POST – HERITAGE DAY IN ZULULAND

South Africa is also called the Rainbow 🌈 Nation because of all the different peoples and their cultures represented in a single country.

As I live in Zululand for over eight years I have been lucky enough to experience and photograph some of the traditions of the Zulu people. Here is a collage to celebrate South Africa’s Heritage Day 2020.

These pictures were taken at traditional weddings, other special occasions in the communities and at Thanda Safari, where Zulus from the neighboring communities perform some of their traditional music and dance for our guests.

Happy Heritage Day!

PS: The gentleman smiling on the bottom left is my friend and tracker Bheki Ngubane.
