One of the most coveted bird sightings in our area is that of Pink-throated Twinspots. This morning Bheki, my very experienced Thanda Safari tracker, spotted four of these beautiful birds and I was lucky to get this shot of a male. I do not often post bird pictures on my photography channel (as I have dedicated birding Instagram and Facebook accounts for bird photography @ChristianSperkaBirding), but I thought this was too beautiful to let it pass!

One of Thanda Safari’s dominant males was keeping a youngster at bay while he was mating with his mother. But she (on the left) was very unhappy how her son was treated by her mate. The young male’s sister (on the right) jumped out of the way as her brother was disciplined.

I am happy to be back at Thanda Safari for a few days with my guests from Switzerland and the USA.
Before we had visited Durban, iSimamgsliso Wetland Park and Pakamisa Private Game Reserve. This colorful picture of my tracker Bheki Ngubane I took last night after the sun had set!
Next week I am off to my next tour to Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kruger National Park and KwaZulu Natal with another American guest.
