This is a link to an article published 12 hours ago on Forbes.com by renowned travel writer Margie Goldsmith. It’s about an ‘Armchair Sound Safari’ and it features some of my pictures and some of my sound recordings 😊.

Enjoy the sounds of Thanda Safari and have a good weekend!

THE MORNING POST – GOLDEN LIGHT

I love the beautiful golden light on these Giraffes just as the sun sets.

Have a good day!

WHICH BIRD IS THIS? WEDNESDAY – THE MORNING POST

I am going to start a new series of posts. It is called WHICH IS THIS BIRD? WEDNESDAY. Every Wednesday morning I will post a South African bird picture. It will be your job to identify the bird 😊.

I will post the result in the evening post on the same day. Some will be easy to ID and some will be more tricky.

I hope you will have fun with this. Let’s start with bird #1, an easy one!

THE EVENING POST – ALMOST LIVE

I was quickly checking one of our waterholes just before sunset and I was taking a video of a Giraffe drinking when I heard very soft steps behind my vehicle.

As I turned around a breeding herd of Elephants rushed past me and reached the water as the sun had disappeared under the horizon. This is a short video of the Ellies taken a few minutes ago.

Enjoy your evening 😊

THE MORNING POST – AFRICAN DUALHORN

It is quite usual to encounter a Black Rhino mum with two calf’s of different ages. I love this picture of a small Rhino family.

Enjoy your day!

THE EVENING POST – STAMPEDE

‘I am leaving if that crowd is coming here ☹️’. Cape Buffalo and Greater Kudu at a Thanda Safari waterhole.

THE MORNING POST – AGITATION

Rhinos will let you know if they are upset. They will curl up their tail. Once they relax their tail will relax and swing from side to side 😊

Have a good week!

THE EVENING POST – TREE MONKEY

I do not often get to photograph Vervet Monkeys on Thanda. They usually run away or hide as soon as they see a long camera lens (I guess they think it is a gun). But this little chap stayed for a photo session in the evening light 😊

Have a good week!

THE MORNING POST – MISTY MORNING

I love winter mornings when the mist takes its time to rise and disappear 😊

Enjoy your Sunday!

THE MORNING POST – THE ULTIMATE CAMOUFLAGE

The markings of a Leopard are one of the most incredible designs of nature. The rosette design of the coats of these elusive cats allow them to ‘disappear’ within meters/yards of the observer.

I have seen Leopards walk of a road into a thicket and just vanish. Only once they move (even as little as an ear or the tip of the tail) I was often able to locate them again. And believe me, they are masters in ‘holding still’ and being patient. Many times they were just gone, as a magician from a stage!

Enjoy your weekend 😊
