Where?

Guess where I am right now?

In Nashville, Tennessee, USA!

I was invited to a surprise party last weekend and therefore could not say anything online about going to the USA beforehand.

I will be in Nashville until next Sunday (7 July) visiting the Zoo and meeting with a lot of my Nashville friends. In case anyone would like to contact me during this time my USA phone number is 615 305 6015.

PS: The good looking gentleman on the images is me on a jet-ski, having fun on a beautiful small lake near Nashville.

Lions and Leopards on My Mind!

I was playing with various images today and this is a resulting collage. I have called it “Lions and Leopards on My Mind”.

PS: I will not be at Thanda from 20 May until 10 June so there will be less Wildlife posts during that time (I will be in Europe on vacation :-)).

I am back :-) – Happy New Year

Sorry about not posting since Christmas but my Internet connection was down until yesterday.

We were very busy at Thanda over the holidays and I had quite a lot of great sightings (pictures and stories to follow in the next few days).

I will be on my “time off” starting next Sunday. Believe it or not – next Monday I will go for my South African drivers license test (I need that one for a Public Transport Permit). After 32 years of driving a car I had to go back to driving school again 🙂

Today’s picture was taken by one of my guests from Germany after a particular interesting drive in rainy and muddy weather conditions. The mud ended up on my face and on my guests faces. We had a great time!

Qualified :-)

I am now a qualified “Backup Trails Guide”. I have just received the certificate from FGASA (Field Guide Association of South Africa).

I have also passed my “Advanced Rifle Handling” course and once my rifle competency is registered with the South African Police I can start walking with clients in areas with “potential dangerous game”

The next step is to log another hundred hours of walking and another fifty encounters before I can be assessed as Lead Trails Guide. This will take quite a while.

This time it’s me!

Quite a few of my friends have asked if there are ever any picture with me on game drive.

Well, this shot was taken by Jo Perry, one of the African Impact Volunteers (Thanks for letting me use the picture :-).

I was explaining the “circle of life” after one of our sunset shots at our largest waterhole (I was kneeling on my driver’s seat!)
