MUNCHING SOUNDS
Yesterday afternoon we were looking for Elephants and found them busy munching fresh green grass in a broken dam basin. I recommend that you watch this video twice. Once with your eyes open and once with your eyes closed (to experience the sounds properly).
We stayed for a long time to observe them converting a ‘long grass field’ quietly into a nicely cut ‘sports field’ 😊

ORANGE EYES
This is my favorite picture from this afternoon’s game drive. My Thanda Safari Wellness Weekend guests were fascinated by the beautiful orange eyes of this Southern White-faced Owl.

DINNER
When I picked up a stone which was resting against a tree in the Thanda House garden I interrupted this Scorpion having his Grasshopper-meal. It was fascinating to watch him trying to find a new hiding place to finish his dinner in peace and quiet.
I took this picture with iPhone which works very well for these type of macro shots.

RAIN, BEAUTIFUL RAIN!
We had over 100mm of rain in the last three days at Thanda Safari. Some of our large mammals – like this Zebra – looked like they felt a bit sorry for themselves walking around with muddy hooves on slippery grounds. So far we had more than 400mm since the beginning of the year.
Let’s hope there will be more to come 😊
