I had not seen Lions for quite a while but last night I found a single male in the western part of the reserve. It was be quite unusual that he was by himself.
He is part of a male coalition, but I assume his brother is attending to some Lionesses in estrous and inflicted some temporary social distancing rules on his brother 😊

After 97 days of lock-down Thanda Safari re-opens tomorrow (at this time only for guests from the KwaZulu Natal province as per regulations).

I love to take pictures of Giraffes at sunset 😊 Due to their heights it is not too difficult to get a good silhouette shots even if it is not always possible to leave the vehicle and lay on the ground to get the best angle.

Yesterday evening I was looking for a pride of Lions in the western parts of the reserve. The cats did not cooperate to be found so I decided to take a short drone video of the beautiful Thanda Safari scenery in the rolling hills of Zululand!

This little Hyena baby was carried by its mum back to their den. It is incredible to see when the pup relaxes immediately as soon as it gets picked up by the ample skin on its neck😊

Some colors appear a lot in nature and some colors are rather rare. This is a picture of one of my favorite small birds. It is a Violet-backed Starling. The male features the most magnificent iridecent plumage to attract the ladies.

If you think this effect was accomplished by using photo editing software then you are wrong. When I took this shot I faced the sun above the Elephant which created the rainbow 🌈 effect through my lens. I thought I share this lovely ‘bad picture’ anyway.
